In the center of the peninsula, separating ROME Italy Northern Southern Italy; Mezzogiorno (noon) begins, they say, hardly crossed his walls.
Built in the heart of the region of Lazio, Rome is at the confluence of two rivers, the Tiber and Aniene. The seven legendary hills of Rome - Palatine (Palatine), Aventino (Aventine), Campidoglio (Capitol), Quirinale (Quirinal) Viminale (Viminal), Esquilino (Esquiline) and Celio (Caelius) - there are other reliefs less famous - Monte Mario, Gianicolo, Pincio, Monti Parioli, Monte Sacro ...

In Rome, the "flat" does not really exist outside of the plain of the Champ de Mars, where, in a bend of the Tiber, focuses the heart of historic Rome. Its highest point rises to 139m on Monte Mario while we noted the lowest level of Rome to 13m, near the Pantheon.

Two volcanoes now extinct - the Laziale towards the Colli Albani, and Sabatino, near Lake Bracciano and Martignano - explain the volcanic nature of the soil of Rome.

The narrowness of the city gives a false impression of the actual area of Rome, since the Commune of Rome covers nearly 1,285 km2, to the shore of the Tyrrhenian Sea, 24km away.
