Since it was discovered in 1911 by the American Hiram Bingham, the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu is considered one of the most important in the world archaeological and architectural monuments.

At 2400 meters above sea level, Machu Picchu surprises us by how was designed the Sacred City of the Incas, on a hill close to the cliffs drop straight where the Urubamba River flows.

Machu Picchu is located between steep mountains over 5500 meters. There are accessed only once by a narrow path built by the Incas (Inca Trail). But today, thousands of tourists come by train to visit the Holy City.
The most courageous tourists arrive to Machu Picchu via the Inca Trail. There paths 2 to 9 days. The most common are those of 2 to 4 days hiking through the mountains. You must have a good physical condition because the route passes through the neck of 4300 m, through the snow and back down to the rainforest. Several ruins of the Inca empire are visible during the trek.

The holy city is built between two steep peaks: in the south, Machu Picchu (Old Mountain) and north, Huayna Picchu (Young Mountain). 800 m lower Urubamba hounds (or Vilcanota River) between the steep walls of rock. Vegetation, subtropical, is everywhere lush.

It's the perfect marriage between nature and the Inca citadel that makes the place unique in the world.
