Real stone desert, Hoggar (or Ahaggar), located in the extreme south of Algeria, consists mainly of volcanic rocks. Erosion has shaped a stunning landscape while sharp peaks. 




Its highest peak is Mount Tahats the center of Atakor, rises to 2,918 meters. The climate is relatively mild in summer, and there may freezing winter nights. 
Due to a less extreme than the rest of the Sahara, Hoggar is an important refuge for some plant and animal species climate. One of the famous sites in the Hoggar is Assekrem, 80 km from Tamanrasset and easily accessible by trail. The Assekrem greeted the summer hermitage of Charles de Foucauld, who settled there in 1911. 
This desert is a valuable reminder of the past of the Earth, its history, that of men, and will welcome you with open arms.
